The Chhattisgarh               government has told            district Collectors and head of departments to act sternly against employees and           officers on strike since August 22. Their strike             period must be termed a ‘Break in Service’, an official circular said.

The strike began on August 22 under the banner of the Chhattisgarh Karmachari Adhikari Federation (CKAF) seeking 34 per cent Dearness Allowance.

Some employees and officials have disassociated themselves from the strike.

Acting under the circular of the General Administration Department of April 10, 2006, the government said the strike period must be read as ‘Break in Service’, the government said.

“Disciplinary actions must be taken against the employees on strike and leave must not be provided to them for their absence from the service,” the circular said.

Similarly, their salary will be deducted and the strike period will be counted as ‘Break in Service”, the circular said. However, the salary of the employees who were on strike from July 25 to July 29 but returned to work after that will be released and their leave will be sanctioned.
