Chief engineer of Mahanadi project S V Bhagvat has sent a letter to the upper Colab division Baripur koraput and asked the reason that why the construction work on that project not started yet.

Chhattisgarh and Odisha Government had jointly struck a deal on 24 th December 2003 to find a solution of Indravati river water crisis. Actually in summer the water from Indravati didn’t come to Chhattisgarh side and reversed back to Odisha hence that part of land remained unquenched, and to get this water crisis resolved jointly the Jora nullah Structure project was conceived, but slow pace of construction annoyed the concerned department over here in the State.
Chief engineer of that project has miffed upon that and expressed the anger of the Government. According to the deal two structures were to be built in Surpadan village of Odisha to prevent the water from being diverted the route and leaving the patch of Chhattisgarh parched and people unquenched. Structure which was proposed will keep the flow of Indravati in Chhattisgarh region in the days of summer also.
