'Govt lying about turnaround in State'

SR

The State Government of Chhattisgarh is robbing the poor as its own data belies the hollowness of its claims of development. In the last 10 years, the number of poor families has gone up in the State while the Chief Minister is claiming turnaround in every sector.

“There is basic difference in Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party ideologies. Our leader abdicate the top post willingly, while BJP leaders consider themselves brave by create dummy lal Quila and speaking like prime minister from there,” charged All India Congress Committee General Secretary of Chhattisgarh In-charge BK Hariprasad.

Addressing a mammoth gathering of farmers on the occasion of ‘Adiwasi and Kisan Mahasammelan’ at Ambikapur onThursday, Hariprasad charged that in Chhattisgarh cultivated land area has decreased by 4 percent due to state government selling agricultural land to industrialists at throwaway prices. But the Central Government has given relief to farmers by bringing fresh land Acquisition Bill. Now, without the consent of farmers, no one can acquire their one inch land. The BJP never thinks about the benefit of farmers. The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate comes here and delivers speeches but hardly says anything about farmers’ plight. He, in fact, cannot say anything on this issue because it was he who sent over one lakh farmers to jail in Gujarat as they were not able to pay the power bill.

Chiding the saffron party leaders Hariprasad said BJP talks of principle and intension, it should compare its own state government’s policies with the UPA government at the Centre which runs 16 welfare schemes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Food Security Bill, National Rural Health Mission for changing the lives of poor. On the other side, the BJP led State Government is distributing rice that too when the Centre is providing it for poor at the rate of `4 a kg. We talk about development and they raise the issue of Ram mandir, religion, caste and other divisive issues. law and order situation, education, health services are so poor that people are forced to look to other States, charged Hariprasad asking the people to decide carefully while casting their votes.

Speaking on the occasion, president of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Charandas Mahant said that without bothering for chair the party leaders would remain united to fulfil the dreams of our leaders who martyred in Darbha Valley massacre. If we work together dislodging the misleading BJP Government will not be much hard, Mahant added. He held personally the chief minister responsible for deteriorating law and order condition charging that he along with his ministers was shielding the accused of Indira Priyadarshini Bank scam.

The CGPCC president also promised farmers to give the three years bonus due of paddy procurement which was promised by the BJP government, procure paddy at `2,000 per quintal of minimum support prices besides providing 35 kg rice free of cost to poor if Congress comes to power in the State.

CGPCC vice president T S Singhdeo, deputy leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Rampukar Singh, former minister Dr Premsai Singh, MlAs Amarjit Bhagat, Ramdev Ram, former MP Khelsai Singh Surajpur DCC president U S Singhdeo and other also addressed the meet.
