The Chhattisgarh Government has decided to open a primary school in Sector-27 of the new capital city.A budget provision of Rs 5.30 lakh has been allocated in the first supplementary budget of the State for the financial year 2015-16, officials stated.

The Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) has also taken cognisance of the process of developing the state-of-art model high school in Naya Raipur. The school is being built in multiple phases. The tentative estimated cost for the first Phase of the project is Rs 25 crores, officials stated.

NRDA Chief Executive Officer Rajat Kumar had been monitoring and personally supervising many key projects of the new high-tech State capital, they stated.

Naya Raipur is coming up as a global education hub as the process for development of Phase-I of the state-of-art campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) including its building has kickstarted.

The Phase-I of the school campus is now being developed at a cost of Rs 296.45 crore with the completion of the works is  considered within a period of two years, they stated.

Significantly,  the Chhattisgarh Government had been zeroing in on setting up a platform for various institutions in order to shape its state-of-art campus in the new capital. The State Government has also established the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Naya Raipur. Moreover, the NRDA has commenced the process for construction and development of the Phase-I of Christel House School at Sector 25 here.

Notably, in what could be termed as an endorsement for the agenda to provide quality education to the poor, during the month of March last year the NRDA had signed an agreement with Christel House, an International charity with a proven track record in breaking the cycle of poverty through educating children.

As per the duly signed agreement, NRDA is providing land and infrastructure for a Christel House school in Naya Raipur. The Christel House, set up in Bangalore in 2001 by entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Christel DeHaan from the USA, is expected to apply its experience and resources in a variety of disciplines including teaching,  community outreach, finance, administration and so on in educating children.

They are likely to undertake the task of providing good quality education and a holistic development for children hailing from poor backgrounds. The objective of Christel House, as they maintain, is to provide education, nutrition and healthcare to children from the poorest of the poor sections of society and make them economically independent and contributing members.

“We are proud to be a part of yet another State’s drive to provide good quality education and values to children from economically backward sections of society,” Raju Shahani, MD and Chairperson, Christel House India had stated last year .

The Christel House is the only charity that completes the cycle by taking children in Kindergarten, providing them education till Class XII, mentor them to pursue degrees and diplomas at State universities and finally place them in jobs.

“The partnership with the Government of Chhattisgarh is a validation of our success story in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where we operate our schools in Bangalore and lavassa,” he had stated.
