Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said that giving charity shows generosity whereas accepting it destroys ego.
Baghel was speaking in Duddhdhari Math to mark the traditional Chherchhera festival, held on full moon day of Paush month in Hindu calendar. This is when donations are given and accepted.
Following the tradition, the Chief Minister made donations from a bag on the streets of Mathpara locality in Raipur. The money received as donation would be used for public welfare, he said. “The festival of Chherchhera marks the tradition of giving and taking donations. The agrarian society in the state donates paddy, foodgrains, vegetables and other items," he said.
