'Get depositors money back from chit fund co'

Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Raipur Range to conduct a thorough investigation and see to it that the money invested in the chit fund company ‘Micro-Finance Company limited’ is returned to the genuine depositors.

Singh was speaking at the weekly ‘Jandarshan’ programme at his official residence here. The depositors requested the Chief Minister to ensure that their hard-earned money is returned.

The officers and employees of the Micro-Finance Company limited  told the Chief Minister that the company was taking money from the depositors for the past 15 years but even after the maturity period they were not returning the depositors’ money.

It has created a  lot of problems for the finance company agents and employees. The officers and employees of the chit fund company informed Singh that the Head-Office of the company is located at Rasoolgarh, Bhubaneshwar in Odisha.

The Manager of Raipur unit was earlier arrested and released on bail who is now based in Odisha.  The employees said that the company had purchased 40-acre land at Khiloura village on Old Dhamtari Road with the  depositors’ money. The land should be sold and the money should be returned to the company’s depositors.

The Chief Minister took the issue seriously and instructed the IGP Raipur range to make a detailed inquiry and settle the monetary dispute as soon as possible.

The residents of village Jawakhad, Gram Panchayat Akhorakhurd in Balrampur district said that  the entire land of Jawakhad belonged to Pahadi Korwahas. There is only one route accessible to the village which is located on the southern fringes of the village.

As the land belonged to others, the road could not be laid till today. There were attempts to lay a road with the permission of land-patta holders but they lodged a complaint with the local police station against the Pahadi Korwahas. The delegation led by Sarpanch Surendra urged the Chief Minister to order the police to withdraw the false plaint and a road be laid to the village.

Singh ordered the Balrampur District Collector to settle the row amicably and IGP of the region inquire into the complaint. The Chief Minister also sanctioned many developmental projects during the ‘Jan-Darshan’ programme.

An amount of Rs4 lakh was allocated for laying a road to village Barbata  at Sarangarh Development Block in Raigarh district, Rs3 lakh for laying road at village Amlipali, Rs5 lakh for laying a road at village Mohanguda in Mahasamund district.

The citizens of village Gharjara in Bhilaigarh Development Block of Baloda bazar district requested for the upgradation of High School to Higher Secondary School. Singh directed the request to the Education Department to look into the matter.
