The District Crime Branch on Friday claimed of busting a gang which used to steal raw materials used in construction work in the guise of civil contractors.
Five persons have been arrested in this connection police said, adding, construction material along with a Pick-up vehicle all worth Rs4.55 lakh were seized from the gang members. According to the police, the accused were identified as Govind alias Gosing Odia (44) resident of Tata line Chhowni, Anil Soni alias Gudwa (28) of Supela, Umesh Soni (32) of Supela, Sonu Soni (30) of Puranli Bhilai and Wahid Beg alias Budhru (32) of Ram Nagar, Supela.
They were arrested near Kumhari toll plaza while the accused were trying to head towards Raipur along with stolen material in a Pickup Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV). Cement bags, centering plates and iron material were among the seized materials, police said.
