Furore in House over law and order situation

Staff Reporter

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh-Jogi (JCC-J) on Monday moved an adjournment motion in the Assembly alleging         deteriorating law and order in the state leading to a "Mafia Raj".

BJP MLAs Dharamlal Kaushik, Brijmohan Agrawal, Ajay Chandrakar and others as well as JCC (Jogi) MLA Dharamjeet Singh alleged that incidents of crimes had increased since the Congress took to power in Chhattisgarh.

BJP's Saurabh Singh said smuggling of coal, diesel and other things had risen.

His colleague Brijmohan Agrawal raised the issue of the killing of a differently abled man by a minor girl in daylight in Raipur on Sunday.

Incidents of stabbing, loot, snatching, murder and other crimes had increased during Congress rule, he said.

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said the morale of the police had dipped while the morale of criminals was high because of lawlessness across the state.

Kaushik alleged that goons who had fled Uttar Pradesh fearing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had shifted to Chhattisgarh.

MLA Dhanendra Sahu, who was in the Chair,         rejected the adjournment motion of the opposition parties.

The BJP MLAs started creating a ruckus over this decision. Amid the               pandemonium, the Chair suspended the proceedings of the House for five         minutes.
