Four major operation theatres (OT) will become functional within three months in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur. Critical operations could then be performed in the institute.
A dozen surgeons will also be recruited in the meanwhile. Presently, minor operations are performed in AIIMS but after the four OTs open for public, complex operations will also be done here. Machinery for the OT have also been ordered.
After the OTs are functional, trauma unit will also be opened for patients injured in accidents where they could be operated upon. The number of beds will also go up to 300. The cost of medicines will also be much less than its print rate.
“Construction work is going on incessantly on the campus. We are shifting the wards to the new buildings as soon as they are ready,” said Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Ajay Dani.
