The Chhattisgarh government has launched a special initiative to buy paddy from Forestland Rights Letter holders at support prices in the Kharif marketing season 2023–24, an official communiqué said on Saturday.
The goal is to encourage the maximum number of forest rights lease holders to sell their paddy to reap benefits from agriculture-based welfare schemes and connect them to the paddy procurement system.
The step has been taken to facilitate the registration of forest lease holders under the Forest Rights Act of 2006.
So far, around 80,000 forest lease holders have been registered in the paddy procurement portal.
