Saroj Pandey, National President Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha, and also a Member of Parliament termed the food security ordinance introduced by Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) as a vote securing ordinance. Criticizing the way adopted by central Government for getting proposed bill passed, she said Congress has always violated the parliamentary traditions.
Saroj Pandey was talking with reporters here at the party State office on Wednesday demanded to call a special session of parliament for discussing the Food Security Ordinance because it seems that they (UPA Government) are not in a frame of mind to discuss the topic, Pandey charged.
She further said that the Food Security Act of Chhattisgarh was passed through elaborate legislative debate and also the State has excellent Public Distribution System (PDS) which has been praised all over even by Supreme Court of India suggesting follow by other states as well. The UPA’s Food Security Act lacks the infrastructure to effectively cater to the masses of the country. Why does not the UPA follow the Chhattisgarh model that has proven its relevance, she questioned.
Saroj Pandey pointed in Chhattisgarh FSA provides 35 kilos of food grains to the beneficiaries the ordinance of the centre claims to give only 5 kgs grains per person. The Chhattisgarh Government provides food grains for Rs 1 or Rs 2 per kg while proposes Food Security Bill would charge Rs 3 per kgs from the deprived ones’.
The Durg MP said UPA in its political manifesto has promised of providing food at cheaper rates but 4 years have passed and they have failed to fulfil their promise so they (UPA) has introduced the food security for securing votes.
