Food quality at Anganwadi centres found sub-standard

Staff Reporter

On receiving repeated complaints on Anganwadi centres being operated in Municipality area, Municipal Council vice president and in-charge on instruction of Municipality president Kashiram Nishad formed a team and conducted surprise inspections recently.

During the inspection, many Anganbadi workers specially at the centre numbers 21, 39, 49, 63 were found absent. And also inspite of the Government’s clear instruction of supplying good quality nutrition diet, pulse broken in pieces were  being used in centre numbers 21, 22, 27, 29 and 58.

In centre number 24 the team found insects in packets of Ready To Eat. The team then informed Women and Child Development Officer Gyanesh Shukla who promptly reached the Centre and assured that action would be taken against supplier Self Help Group (SHG) Jai Mahamaya Darshan.

Nishad said there would be no compromise with health of small children. He instructed Project Officer to instruct Ready To Eat supplier to use quality food materials. He had telephonic conversation with District officer Women and Child Development Shail Thakur who assured proper action against defaulters.
