Staff Reporter

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said folk festivals and culture are connected with nature. With preservation and promotion of festivals, everyone will connect with nature.

He was addressing the virtual launch event of Mukhyamantri Chhattisgarhi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana for non-scheduled areas held here.

The scheme aims to preserve and promote Teej-festivals, culture and traditions of rural areas.

The Rs 10,000 under the scheme is not a huge amount but when organised by panchayats, people will start to follow their traditions. The new generation will also adopt it and connect with nature, he said.

At the event, the Chief Minister released the first instalment to 6,111 gram panchayats, an official communication said.

Similarly, in 3,793 gram panchayats of tribal areas mainly in 14 districts of Surguja, the first instalment under the Mukhyamantri Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana was also given away. The 1,840 gram panchayats of Bastar division have already received the first instalment of the scheme on April 13.
