Forest produce worth Rs1.50 crore was virtually reduced to ashes after a conflagration engulfed a godown situated in Bhanpuri, on Thursday morning. According to police it took more than four hours of painstaking work to completely douse the fire.
According to police sources the fire broke out at Sibbal godown around 9 am. Forest produces like, tamarind and others were stored in huge quantity in the godown. The residents of the area on Thursday morning spotted smoke emanating from the building.
They then informed police control room and fire brigade which reached on the spot.
About four fire tenders were deployed to tame the wild fire. The firemen had to dismantle some walls of the godown to douse the fire. The reason of fire is yet to be known, police said.
