A First Information Report has been lodged based on the complaint regarding a fake news citing statement of father of a politician which went viral in social media with the ‘fake letter’ circulated in social media regarding loan waiver, said Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo on Monday.
On holding the road show and public rally even after imposition of Section 144, Sahoo said that Raipur District Electoral Officer and Superintendent of Police have issued the notice to the concerned political party. Action would be taken as per rules after the reply is provided by the party, he said.
On Postal Ballot issue, Sahoo clarified that 100 percent distribution of postal ballot has been done for those employees, having their correct Part Number and Serial number.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued directive that if the application contains incorrect entries, it can be rejected.
Sahoo pointed out as per the ECI directive, within the 200 metres of polling booth no political advertisements should exist. “It is not on directive of any political party, the hoardings are being removed,” he said, based on a complaint lodged by Congress party.
He said that no election campaigning can be done through social media as it has already ended with the 48 hours deadline.
The CEO said that if required, additional security forces in sensitive areas would be deployed.
