Feels distressed over BJP politicking over Atalji's name, says niece Karuna

Congress leader and niece of Bharatiya Janata Party patriarch and former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Karuna Shukla, has expressed her anguish over the Bharatiya Janata Party politicking on name of the late Prime Minister after his demise.

Shukla in a statement said Atalji faced neglect and humiliation from the party since last 10 years, when he was taken ill. With Assembly elections round the corner in four States, BJP is trying to encash the sympathy on his name.

The neglect was such that in last 10 years the party never used his name nor used his posters in poll campaign in the elections anywhere, she said.

Commenting on naming Naya Raipur, Bilaspur University and several other establishments, Shukla said, “The Chief Minister should kindly tell as how many times he has recalled the departed leader in last 10 years. Vajpayee, was an architect of the Chhattisgarh State, never ever was his name was remembered in these years by the BJP led state Government”, she added.

Its’ now annoying to see that now BJP was trying to take political mileage on Atalji’s name after his death.

The 5 kms walk of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in funeral procession of Atalji was all to woo the voters in upcoming elections in four states, she said.

Being a niece of him makes me more distressed over the politics on his name just for garnering votes in the elections, she added.
