The Excise Department on Wednesday seized a huge quantity of 252 Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles valued at Rs 1.80 lakh in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district. Two persons were arrested for transporting it from Madhya Pradesh.
An official press release quoted the Kabirdham district Assistant Excise Officer Nitin Kumar Khanduja as saying that the seizure included 28 cartons.
The arrested men were identified as the vehicle driver Sanjay Verma (26) and his accomplice Vijay Kumar Yadav (26).
Sanjay Verma is from Bhilai and Vijay Kumar from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh, the statement said.
Acting on a tip, the Excise Department spotted a SUV and intercepted it near a petrol pump on the Sahaspur-Lohara trijunction in the district. The SUV (CG-04, H-4977) was also seized.
