Accusing irregularities in polling for Assembly elections, Congress candidate Brihaspat Singh has demanded that counting of votes takes place in presence of a team consisting three IAS and two IPS officers. Singh is contesting against State Minister Ramvichar Netam from Ramanujganj constituency.
He also urged the State Election Commission to keep Balrampur Collector, District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police (SP) away from the counting centre so that the election result is fair.
In a written complaint submitted to Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Kujur, Singh said that irregularities at a wide scale had taken place in his constituency. He said that there have been reports of placing a microchip in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and controlling the results through remote control. He demanded that EVM experts and CBI conduct a probe into this matter.
He demanded that Balrampur Collector, District Election Officer and SP are kept away from the counting centre and a team of IAS and IPS officers monitor the process. There are 235 polling booths in Ramanujganj constituency out of which 100 are sensitive. “I had requested for CCTV surveillance and special security force at the counting centre but in vain,” Singh said.
