Election Commission of India (ECI) has stayed the transfer of all the officers and employees involved in the Special Revision of Electoral Roll through a letter sent to all the states and union territories Chief Secretaries on Tuesday.
ECI has also directed to complete the revision work by February 22, 2019 with a clause to include maximum first time voters in the electoral roll.
The Commission has also stressed on the inclusion of differently abled, missing voters and neglected communities voters.
The letter states that District Electoral Officer, Deputy DEO, District Elector Registration Officer, Voter Registration Officer and Assistant VRO including booth level officers play key role in electoral revision process.
Transfer of such officials will adversely affect the process so, in case if they are transferred and posted, governments should ensure it is duly intimated to the Commission.
The electoral roll revision began on December 26, 2018 and continued till January 25. The final publication is on February 22.
