The Election Commission (EC) has restrained political parties and candidates from distributing gifts such as saree, kameez, dothi among other things to the voters and warned of stringent action against those violating it here on Thursday.
According to Upper Collector and nodal officer for election expenses M D Kanware said a candidate who failed to provide election expenses without valid reason would not be allowed hold public meetings.
However, what could be a major relief to political parities and candidate he sad, if private vehicles would participate in public rallies and meetings without any expenses, they would be exempt from the election expenses of a candidate, he said.
But in case those vehicles carried banner, poster of the photograph of the party or the candidate then they would the considered as paid vehicles and whose expenses would the added to the election expenses of the candidate.
