The Enforcement Directorate has                conducted search operations and seized about Rs 6.5 crore in the form of unaccounted cash, gold and bullion in a coal scam case, it was announced on Friday.

A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Raipur has granted custody of an IAS officer and two others for eight days till October 21 to the ED, the agency tweeted.

The ED on Thursday nabbed 2009 batch IAS             officer Sameer Vishnoi, Indermani Group head Sunil Agrawal and Laxmikant Tiwari, an uncle of             absconding coal trader Suryakant Tiwari, after launching multi-city raids on October 11 as part of a money laundering probe in the state.

The case is linked to alleged illegal levy extorted from coal and mining             transporters by a nexus of state government officials, businessmen as well as               private entities in Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Vishnoi’s wife Preeti, who called on Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday, wrote to Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, alleging that the ED harassed her,                  husband and family.

She demanded action against the ED officials.
