The Eastern Regional Inter-University Basketball (Women) Tournament commenced at Pt Ravishankar University Raipur on Wednesday.
Teams of 18 universities of East zone are participating in this tournament organised at sports campus of Physical Education Department in the University campus.
Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey inaugurated the tournament, while Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal presided over the inaugural programme.
On the occasion, a new basketball court was also inaugurated. Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey announced sanction of `10 lakh for a gymnasium in Pt Ravishankar Shukla University.
Both Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey and Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal motivated all the sportspersons and encouraged them to keep up the sportsman spirit during the tournament.
They extended best wishes to the sportspersons for their performance in the tournament.
Teams from MGKV Varanasi, University of Vardhaman, APS Rewa, Utkal University Bhubaneshwar, Manipur University, Jadavpur University, VBSP Jauvpur, Ravensa University, Bilaspur University, University of Kolkata, Guru Ghasidas University Bilaspur, Vishwa Bharti Shanti Niketan, SAO University, Sarguja University, DDU Gorakhpur and Pt Ravishankar Shukla
University will participate in the tournament.
