After the gang rape and murder incident political activities have been increased in Durg. The accused in the most deplorable act are still out of police reach. Protests, dharnas and agitations are going on in the city.

Condemning the incident the State Congress has constituted a probe committee headed by Bematara MlA Thamradwaj Sahu. MlA Badruddin Qureishi, Bhajan Singh Nirankari, MlA Pratima Chandrakar, mayor Nirmala Yadav, district president of the party Ghanaram Sahu and former mayor RN Verma are the members of the committee.

State president of the party Nandkumar Patel has asked the committee to submit a report after probing the entire incident. The committee members will meet the family members of the victim girl.

While condemning the incident State Congress president Nandkumar Patel and leader of the Opposition Ravindra Choubey said that girls and women were not secure and the dignity of women were in danger in Chhattisgarh. They said that politicisation and misuse of police administration by the BJP Government were responsible for it.

They said the law and order situation in Durg was completely in disarray. While sympathising with the victim family, the Congress leaders said such repeated incidents in Chhattisgarh were most painful and disturbing.

The leader duo termed increasing drug trafficking, criminals’ nexus with police stations and posting of police officers and cops at one place for years responsible for such heinous crimes in Durg and the entire Chhattisgarh.

They alleged, it seems that the Raman Singh and the BJP Government in the State have nothing to do with the deteriorating law and order situation and the ever increasing incidents of misconduct with girls and women in the State.
