The district administration has gathered suggestions and guidelines from all local political leaders and citizens to include them in a plan to make Rajnandgaon a ‘model city’.
A meeting had already been held in the presence of MP Abhishek Singh on Thursday in this regard. Many objections were disposed of at the meeting, whereas, assurance had been given to include necessary suggestions in the proposal.
However, some people openly opposed the demolition for a second time for road widening from Nandai Chowk to Indira Nagar. They said that many houses were demolished during the earlier road widening work. Now the affected people have constructed their houses and if once again their houses were demolished, they would be in trouble. They have also opposed the 30-metre widening of Pyarelal Chowk to Naya Dhaba road.
Administrative officers have explained about the benefits to the people from the Master Plan. As per the plan, many changes would come in the city’s shape and direction in the next 25 years. Over 300 objections were registered in the meeting. Emphasis has been given in the meeting to declare about half-a-dozen villages adjacent to the city as ‘residential area.’
In the meeting, the issue of changing Manki, Sundara, Paneka, Pendri and Bori villages that are adjacent to the city into residential area was raised. It was said that leaving some issues, consensus has been reached in the meeting in all most all the issues. The businessmen proposed to reduce the width of Gudaku line, Ramadhin road, Cinema line and other main roads in the city. It was said that separate criterion would be prepared for some roads.
Mayor Naresh Dakliya, Corporation chairman Hafiz Khan, Rajgami Sampada chairman Santosh Agrawal, former district president Suresh H lal, Hemant Osthwal, Ramesh Patel, collector Ashok Agrawal, SP Dr Sanjeev Shukla, additional collector D Singh and SDM Bl Gajpal were present in the meeting.
