An ultra modern ‘Automated laundry System’ had been installed at the district hospital here to facilitate faster and hygienic cleaning of clothes for the admitted patients. There are separate machines installed in the hospital for even drying and ironing of the clothes at the hospital, said an official Press release issued here on Tuesday.

The machines were installed at the instance of District Collector Avinash Champawat at an estimated cost of Rs 8 lakh. Civil Surgeon and Chief Hospital Superintendent of the District Hospital Rameshwar Sharma informed that the machines would become operational in another one or two days.  He said that currently the hospital management had been spending around rs 25,000 to rs 30,000 per month to get the clothes of patients washed and ironed through a contract arrangement.

Sharma said that there would be saving in costs of getting clothes washed and ironed through the contractor resulting in clean clothes made available to the patients now. During the monsoon season, there were problems getting the clothes dried earlier but now with the installation of the machine, dried clothes could be made available anytime, he said.
