Directives issued to co-ops for crop purchase: Raman

Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday said that the State Government has issued directives to all the Agriculture Department officers concerned to ensure crops are purchased by the Co-operative societies as per the guidelines issued by the authorities.

He was meeting citizens at his 'Jandarshan' programme at his official residence here.

During the Jandarshan programme, Sarangarh Janpad Panchayat member Savita Nishad submitted a memorandum listing the demands of the farmers.

Singh directed the memorandum to the Secretary of the Co-Operatives  Department for further action.

Nishad informed the Chief Minister that the farmers in Sarangarh harvest the crops with 'Harvester' machines  and carry the paddy grain to the purchasing centres directly. At times the paddy is not even dried and is sold. It is against the guidelines.

The Chief Minister gave instructions to Department officers to create awareness among the farmers regarding the issue.

It may be mentioned here that the Agriculture Department has decided to procure paddy through the Co-Operative Societies' Procurement Centre  between November 16, 2015 to 31 2016.

On the occasion, Singh sanctioned 14 developmental works worth Rs62 lakh on the request of delegations from various parts of the State.

He also sanctioned monetary relief to 14 seriously ill patients. About 520 individuals and 74 delegations (519 individuals) met the Chief Minister and submitted their complaints.

The Gariaband Mini-Buses' Owners' Union in a memorandum expressed their difficulties that they are facing on the Gariaband-Rajim route.

The memorandum has been directed to the Gariaband District Collector. Primary Agriculture Credit Co-Operative Committees'  delegation also met the Chief Minister and urged him to release the arrears of commission as soon as possible.
