Dip in temperature to help Rabi crops

Staff Reporter

The dip in mercury levels on Friday is likely to benefit the Rabi crops this year.

According to the Weathermen, the fall in the minimum temperature is beneficial for the crops.

“Clouds are harmful but the dip in mercury levels create a vice-versa effect. The farmers have completed sowing of Rabi crops. We are hopeful to get a better productivity of crops sown in winter season,” said Dr GK Das, Head of Agrometeorology Department, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU), Raipur.

Similarly, Ml Sahu, Director of State Meteorological Department said the cold weather will continue for the time being. “Even on Saturday, the climate would remain cloudy with cold breeze. It is due to the upper air turf running from North Chhattisgarh to Karnataka. Showers are expected in some places of the State,” he maintained.
