Diesel price hike may set off inflation: Baghel

Staff Reporter

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel has expressed  anguish over another hike announced in diesel prices.

The price of diesel has now crossed Rs 70 per litre which would trigger inflationary conditions, he said.

Baghel in a statement issued here said the price of essential commodities is also proportionate to the diesel price and a hike in them is now certain.

The farmers on the other hand also use diesel operated pumps and tractors and the price hike would increase their Agri production cost, he said.

Citing information received by a Right to Information (RTI) activist that Central Government is exporting diesel and petrol to Iraq, United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Hongk Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and United Arab Emirates (UAE) at ‘throw away prices’ in between Rs 32 to 36 per litre, Baghel said why then the Central Government was insensitive towards the plight of citizens of the country.

The Central Government is selling petroleum products in the country at double the price while the same to foreign countries at very low price, he said.

The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party when they were in the Opposition created much noise on hike in price of petroleum products but now have changed their attitude, Baghel blamed.
