Staff Reporter

The Chief Executive Officer of the Naya Raipur Development Authority, Amit Kataria, on Saturday refuted the allegation that the NRDA has been carrying out development work on farmers’ land. He said that the NRDA is doing development works only on its own land purchased in Naya Raipur.

Kataria said that the Authority has been carrying out leveling work on the land bought from the farmers on mutual consent after giving them compensation along with the benefits of rehabilitation package declared by the Government from time to time.

He said that the rehabilitation package offered in Naya Raipur is pro-farmer and better than the land acquisition rehabilitation package given in other parts of the country. The NRDA so far has purchased 4972.80 hectares of land on mutual consent, whereas, it has 2782.3 hectares Government land. Besides, the Government has acquired 604.79 hectares land. The NRDA has given a total of Rs 1,049 cr to farmers in lieu of the land purchased from them.

According to Kataria, up to 2010, the NRDA had given an additional compensation of about Rs 140 cr, as an additional package to the farmers against the land acquired from them. As per the declaration of the Government, annual amount of Rs 15,000 per year has been distributed to each farmer for 20 years.

The NRDA has started distribution of this amount from Kayabandha village and soon it would be given to the farmers of other villages. This amount, with an increase of Rs 750 per year, will be given from 2012-13 to 2030-31.

The villagers of Naya Raipur are being given minimum 1200 sq ft plot. The size of the plot will be increased on the ratio of the land sold. The government has given a stamp-fee concession on land purchased to the farmers of Naya Raipur so that they could purchase alternative land or house in any part of the state without stamp fee.
