Staff Reporter

The demonetizing of Rs1000 and Rs500 currency notes will serve national interests, including eradication of black money, stated Chief Minister Raman Singh while tabling a motion on the floor of Chhattisgarh legislative Assembly while thanking the Central Government.

He was addressing the house on the first day of state legislative assembly’s winter session here on Tuesday.

While supporting the Central Government's decision of demonetizing Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes, the Chief Minister stated that the house welcomes Central Government's decision of demonetization and expresses its support to promote the institutional mechanism for clean monetary transactions.

In order to serve the national interests including eradication of black money and to restrict terrorists and to curb the circulation of fake currency, the Government has decided to ban these notes.. This step is going to strengthen the national economy and make it more transparent and efficient, he said.

In some parts of the country including Chhattisgarh, people with vested interests are opposing the step by spreading rumors and making false propaganda, he added.

It is apt to give a positive direction to the public opinion in the interest of National Unity, Integrity, Sovereignty and to maintain monetary credibility. State legislatures are morally duty bound to discuss and support on this issue of utmost public importance, thus emphasizing the mission of achieving monetary austerity, the CM said.
