Heralding the arrival of summer, delicious, juicy and most-sought-after seasonal fruit ‘litchi’ has arrived in the market. Since, it’s the beginning of the season, the arrival of litchi is low. Average price of one kilogram of litchi is Rs 160. This succulent fruit has been brought in the market from Kolkata and Bihar. litchis are low in calories, contain no saturated fat or cholesterol and are rich in dietary fibre, important for those concerned about their body weight. litchis, like citrus fruits, are an excellent source of Vitamin C and contain approximately 40 per cent more Vitamin C than orange; nine litchi fruits would meet an adult’s daily recommended Vitamin C requirement, says expert.
