Bharatiya Janata Party veteran and former deputy Prime Minister lal Krishna Advani said on Saturday that India has two Prime Ministers at a time, one is Dr Manmohan Singh while the other is Sonia Gandhi. He added that the de facto PM Manmohan Singh hardly works using his intellect and simply adheres to the diktats of the Congress president.
Addressing a well-attended election rally in Surajpur in Chhattisgarh, the BJP patriarch said, “In 2008, when the Raman Singh Government got a second stint in a row, it virtually lined up development projects. Besides creating nine new districts, which also included Surajpur, the Chhattisgarh Government opened 14 schools and a Government college for giving boost to education in Surajpur.
Under the BJP regime the district also boasted of having good medical facilities. Several projects and schemes including the widely acclaimed public distribution system and healthcare scheme for poor and women are testimony to the pro-poor leanings of the Raman Government,’’.
He said that under the leadership of Raman, Chhattisgarh has left the image of ‘Bimaru’ state far behind becoming leader in the fields of power generation, mineral production, agriculture, steel, cement and others.
Talking about inept handling of internal issues by the UPA Government, he said that when Atal Behari Vajpayee was Prime Minister, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand were created amicably. But UPA Government and Finance Minister P Chidambaram failed in doing so in terms of creation of Telangana. Same was the case with dealing with Maoist insurgency, he charged.
lauding the achievements of the State government and its public welfare schemes, Advani appealed the electorate to cast their vote in favour of BJP candidates from Premnangar, Bhatgaon and Pratappur Assembly constituencies. The election for remaining 72 seats in Chhattisgarh to be held on Nov 19 in the second and the final phase.
