CTB to ink MoU with IRCTC

Staff Reporter

The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) will sign a MoU with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) on September 27 for              promotion and bookings, CTB Managing Director Anil Kumar Sahu said on Sunday.

Sahu told the media that to mark World Tourism Day on September 27, a              seminar is being hosted here. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the chief guest. The MoU will be signed that day so that bookings and queries are done through the IRCTC portal.

There will be              discussions on ‘Chhattisgarh – A land of opportunities and immense possibilities’ and ‘Redefining travel tourism and hospitality scenario of Chhattisgarh’, he said.

CTB is promoting ‘Youth Tourism’ by targeting working youth, universities, colleges and senior schools by forming  ‘Tourism Clubs’. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an order to form such clubs to promote tourism across the country.

On Chhattisgarh’s tourism scenario, he said the Board is            working on ensuring hospitality through leasing out its                 infrastructure to private players. Around 14 have become functional.

There is a problem of connectivity. If the Ambikapur airport opens, it can be                 connected to Raipur and Jagdalpur.
