Two teams from the Office of Executive Director Safety and Vigilance, Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company limited (CSPTCl) reached Bhilai-3 and carried out a detailed inspection of ‘Areas Store’ that was gutted by heavy fire a few days back.
Sources in the Department informed that the teams performed photography of the spots and also the instruments burnt by fire. They questioned the guards appointed in the yard and checked the store records.
The report made by committee will be forwarded to head office in Raipur.
Initially, it was informed that about 500 transformers were blazed in the incident however, officers from the inspection team said that only 35 transformers were destroyed in the fire, sources said.
The teams questioned Area Store Executive Engineer about the suspected cause of fire.
The guards told the team that due to some kind of short circuit on overhead high tension line, fire would have been triggered. While, the EE stated that some inflammable oil around the instrument might have caught fire, sources maintained.
