One hundred centres have been identified in Chhattisgarh to facilitate the vaccination of people above 60 years, Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo said on Sunday.
“Of the 100 centres, 60 are Government and 40 private hospitals,” he said in a virtual press conference.
In this round of vaccination, about 30 lakh people will be vaccinated, he said. With the current capacity, the Health Department can vaccinate 78 lakh people in two months.
Also, people between 45 and 59 years can also get vaccine shots but they will have to produce a certificate of co-morbidity signed by a registered medical practitioner, the Minister said.
Asked if the new corona strain found in Maharashtra has entered in Chhattisgarh, he said researchers have found over 7,000 different strains of coronavirus so far in India. The current Covid vaccines are effective against all strains, he added.
Vaccination will be free in government hospitals while Rs 250 will be charged in private hospitals, he said.
