A Covid positive prisoner admitted to the District Hospital at Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh escaped on Monday. An FIR had been registered against him and the Jail Prahari, who was on duty to look after him, has been suspended. According to Rajendra Kumar Gaikwad, the Superintendent of Central Jail Ambikapur, under-trial prisoner Santosh Yadav had been lodged in the prison since June 5, 2020. After being tested Covid positive, he was sent to the District Hospital Ambikapur with Jail Prahari, Manish Banchor. The prisoner fled from the hospital on Monday morning, the official said. Banchor had been suspended with immediate effect for negligence, he added.
