Dozens of sisters were denied on Sunday to meet their jail detainee brothers on Raksha Bandan primarily because of strict Covid protocol.
However, those women reached the Jail premises for meeting their brothers were allowed to talk to their imprisoned brothers through Prison’s Calling System.
K.K. Gupta, DIG Jails, said there was a ‘Prison’s Calling System’ in all the central and district jails across the state and the sisters who came to these Jails’ complex to meet their brothers were facilitated to talk to their brothers through this medium.
The Rakhis which received by posts or were brought physically were passed on to the detainee brother only after being sanitized, the official said. The sisters were also prevented to offer sweets.
