Along with the rivers and rivulets that are in spate during monsoon, the spate of corruption in the BJP Government has also been come in the fore.

According to the Congress spokesperson, Mahendra Chhabra, the Government construction works in the State have no quality and were weak. He alleged that the roads, bridges, culverts were constructed not with cement or metal but with the ‘damar’ of Government corruption.

Chhabra said that more than half of the newly constructed roads in the State have been washed away during the two-month rainfall. The bridge on Devbhog-Jhakharpara road, about 100-km from the State capital, constructed with a cost of Rs 8 crores, has fallen even before its completion, he added.

He said that a bridge constructed with a cost of Rs 1.25 crore on Pangal river in Balrampur district was washed away in the flood with six months, whereas, the condition of the dams and lakes constructed by the water resources development department are also the same, he alleged. He said that more than 80 per cent anicuts, constructed by the BJP Government either have washed away or lying useless because of technical snag.
