In Sukma district, once again security personnel and Maoist insurgents came face to face Friday afternoon and fought a brief battle.

However, no casualty was reported on either side. According to police sources, police jawans from Timelwaya camp had gone on searching operation Friday afternoon. Around two kilometre from the camp, Maoists hiding in bushes all of sudden started firing on the police team.

Taking position immediately, the cops also returned the fire in matching strength. After an hour of intermittent firing from both sides, the rebels took to their heels taking cover of the dense forests in the area.

No casualty was reported on either side, the police officials added. Confirming the encounter between police personnel and Maoist insurgents in Sukma district, Bastar Inspector General of Police Arundev Gautam said that police parties have been sent in search of the rebels.
