Durg police busted a gang indulged in satta (betting) over the IPl-T20 matches from Smriti Nagar area on Wednesday. Six persons, 7 mobile phone and written records of about Rs3.50 lakh, also seized from the spot, police said.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Durg, Anand Chhabra the raid was conducted on a precise tip-off that some people in Smriti Nagar were betting over the IPl matches. A team was prepared which raided quarter number 12A, Block-7 Chouhan Tower, Smriti Nagar and found the accused betting over the match going on between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. The accused have been identified as Neeraj Kumar Goyal (19) resident of Chouhan Town, Viveek Kumar (22) Chouhan Town, Nikhil Rahti (22), Vinoba Nagar Bilaspur, Abhinav Pandey (20) Bhankar hostel Junwani, Rishi Raj Ranjan (20) Chouhan Town and Pushkar Agrawal (19) resident of Deepak Nagar Durg.
