Congress to launch outreach events across Chhattisgarh

Staff Reporter

The Congress on Wednesday decided to reach out to people at ward and Panchayat levels as part of a fortnight-long national outreach programme starting from November 14 against the Modi government.

The campaign will revolve around price hike, inflation, monetization policy and the ongoing farmers' protests against the three farm laws of the Central government.

A state executive body meeting headed by AICC Chhattisgarh-in-charge P.L. Punia was held in Durg to plan the activities apart from some other issues.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, PCC chief Mohan Markam and around half a dozen Ministers in the state cabinet attended the meeting

Congress spokesperson Dhananjay Singh Thakur said the party is going to launch a ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ between November 14 and 29 and a series of activities like padyatras, shutdowns and dharnas across the state.

“It was decided in the meeting that all party leaders should reach out to people in wards and panchayats and talk to them to understand their problems. It has been suggested that they should plan night stays in villages and hold prabhat pheris (processions at dawn) like Mahatama Gandhi against the British,” said the spokesperson.

Other issues dealt in the meeting include membership drive, organizational issues, urban body elections and a work plan for the 2023 Assembly elections, he said.
