The senior party leaders, while discussing the issue in a meeting with the district In-charges, state office-bearers and members of different committees here at the State party headquarters on Monday, decided to stage demonstrations at every block-level from October 8 to 15.

The party will also launch a state-wide signature drive to seek farmers, public representatives and local residents’ support in this duration. It was decided in the meeting that if the State government fails to make appropriate changes in the paddy procurement policy, the party will hold ‘Economic Blockade’ in the State on November 1.

The party leaders also raised their demand of starting procurement of paddy from November 1 besides allowing the cooperative societies to purchase paddy from the farmers at the previous limit of per acre production, purchase paddy at MSP Rs 2100 and immediately provide bonus of Rs 300 per acre to the paddy farmers.

Ahead of the civic body polls, the party decided to give priority in ticket distribution to those who actively participate in increasing the party’s base through the membership drive. During the meeting, the party leaders emphasized on constituting booth-level committees soon.
