Congress party is not going to field any leader of big stature in Rajnandgaon for the forthcoming Assembly polls.
A confirmation regarding the same was done by Chhattisgarh In-charge of All India Congress Committee, P.l. Punia at a meeting held here at the New Circuit House on Thursday.
In the meeting he also scrutinized the names of candidates from Rajnandgaon and revealed his intention of not allowing an outsider in the assembly elections from Rajnandgaon to contest on a Congress ticket.
Punia also deliberated with the Congress office bearers of Rajnandgaon and took their views regarding the possible candidates.
“We will not prefer a political giant from outside to fight the poll battle in Rajnandgaon rather we will field a local candidate”, he stated in the meeting.
He told in meeting “Wait a while and soon the candidate from Rajnandgaon would be declared by the party."
