Congress: State favoured GVK in running '108' ambulances

Chhattisgarh Government in a bid to extend undue benefits to GVK company that has been operating ‘108 ambulance’ service in Chhattisgarh, had tweaked the norms so that the tender could get in hands of the company, alleged Chhattisgarh Congress here on Saturday at a Press conference.

Making a mention about uterus removal scam, botched up eye operations and vasectomy operations, the Chhattisgarh Congress Chief Bhupesh Baghel said- “BJP Government in State led by Chief Minister Raman Singh has completely failed in the health sector.”

“In view of recent strike by the staff of 108 ambulances service which had paralysed ambulance service in state, the government should have exerted pressure on the company rather than taking action against the ambulance staff'', Baghel pointed.

Senior Congress leader Mohammed Akbar who was also present in the press conference alleged that the officers of GVK Company are having hand-in-gloves with big hospitals.

“The officers of GVK Company pressurize their low-ranked staff to take the patients to big hospital that are linked to the ruling regime,” he claimed.

Detailing about alleged objectionable clause included in the tender, he said the tender floated out mentioned that for a company having 100 to 500 ambulances 5 marks were given, for 500 to 1000 ambulances 10 marks were given and for 1500 and above 15 marks were fixed.

“The question is when 240 ambulances are sufficient for Chhattisgarh and that was mentioned in the tender then why was the condition of 1500 ambulance insertedIJ Simply because the state government officials were aware that since GVK Company was running similar services in other states they are having more than 1500 ambulances,” Akbar stated.
