The Opposition Congress members on Friday staged a walkout in the Chhattisgarh Assembly while protesting against the State Government’s decision to merge schools functioning under Tribal and Scheduled Caste Welfare Development and Urban Administration departments with the School Education Department.
Raising the issue during general discussion on budget demands of School Education Department, Congress members Kawasi lakhma, Amarjeet Bhagat, Ramdayal Uike, Brihaspat Singh, lakheshwar Baghel, opposed the State Government’s decision to transfer all schools and teachers functioning under Tribal and Scheduled Caste Welfare Development as well as Urban Administration departments to the School Education Department.
They said that the merger will lead to the scarcity of teachers in schools being run in tribal-dominated areas of Chhattisgarh which are already facing shortage of teaching staff. School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap in his reply said that the decision will help in smooth and better functioning of schools under the umbrella of a single Department. Dissatisfied with the decision, Congress members staged a walkout.
