Congress rejects lok Suraj Abhiyan's success

Staff Reporter

Congress on Saturday rejected the claims over success of State Government’s massive public relation drive lok Suraj Abhiyan.

They also demanded to lift the prohibition on sale or name transfer of un-diverted land less than 2250 sq ft.

State Congress General Secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi rejected the claims of State Government regarding successes of ‘lok Suraaj Abhiyaan’. He alleged that it has turned out to be mere congregation of Ministers and officials.

“Despite the provision of new job cards being made from April 1 till April 15 under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the process has been slow which is why many of the labourers, especially from remote areas are finding it difficult to find employment,” he alleged.

Many of the social welfare schemes are not working properly and even the Shikshakarmis working in distant parts of the state have not received payments since months, he claimed.

Congress General Secretary Incharge Girish Dewangan has demanded that prohibition on sale or name transfer of un-diverted land less than 2250 sq ft must be ended immediately.

In a letter to Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Dewangan cited the fact that major part of the state is under severe drought and the people, be they from rural or semi-urban areas, cater to their needs by way of sale of their land. The prohibition order of the state government however, has forced them to undergo financial difficulties.
