The Congress party is peddling lies to win this election and its president Rahul Gandhi is the biggest liar, alleged former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, quickly adding the party would not succeed in its attempt.
Chouhan was addressing a press conference at BJP state headquarters in Raipur on Wednesday.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress party, he said “Rahul Gandhi speaks lies with great confidence. They (Congress) had promised to wave off the loans of farmers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh within 10 days. However, it has been over 105 days now and loans are yet to be waved off.”
Quoting a text message sent by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath to farmers wherein he (Kamal Nath) had cited model code of conduct (MCC) as reason for being unable to wave off the loans, Shivraj said since loan waver decision was taken before the MCC came into effect, its beneficiaries were pre identified, so the code of conduct would not have prevented the government, if it so desired, to carry on with its promise.
He also presented copy of bank notices served to farmers in Madhya Pradesh mentioning that their loans have not been waved off and they will have to pay the loan amount.
“Because of them (Congress) they (farmers) have become defaulters, and farmers now are committing suicide,” Shivraj Singh said.
In Chhattisgarh also the Congress had promised liquor prohibition but it never happened.
“During my Bastar visit, I came to know that bootleggers have proliferated in Bastar and liquor is being sold in plastic pouch way above the MRP”, he said.
For past 50 years, only one family had ruled India. Pt Jawaharlal Nehru used to say ‘Garibi Hatao’, since then Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Manmohan Singh reiterated the same slogan, but poverty alleviation never really happened, he added.
“Now they have come up with fresh false promise of depositing Rs 72,000 in the account of poof family,” Shivraj remarked.
He flayed the Congress party for promising to dilute AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Acts).
“Rahul Gandhi you should fight Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but should never do things that could benefit the enemies of our nation,” he said.
