Congress MlAs told to campaign only in their constituencies

Chhattisgarh’s Opposition Congress has asked its legislators and those defeated in the assembly election held last year in November to keep their campaign for the lok Sabha polls restricted to their respective constituencies only.

Taking note of the complaints made by a section of party workers that some legislators and defeated candidates have been campaigning in constituencies other than theirs, the party decided to issue necessary instructions in this regard.

Sources said some legislators have been campaigning in other assembly areas. Objecting to it, state Congress general secretary Vidhan Mishra reportedly brought this matter to the notice of Congress national treasurer Motilal Vora and state in-charge BK Hariprasad after meeting them in New Delhi.

He has also given specific suggestion to ensure that election is managed in a better way. According to the suggestions, the legislators and those defeated should be told to stay in their respective constituency and ensure that the party candidate get at least the same number of votes it received in the last election.

If any legislator or defeated candidate wants to go outside of their constituency for campaign, it should be made mandatory that they obtain the permission of the Congress leadership of their respective area.

The Congress had emerged victorious in 39 assembly polls out of the total 90 seats in the assembly polls.
