Disappointed by the reply of Health Minister Ajay Chandrakar over outsourcing of nurses in Government hospitals, during calling attention motion on Thursday, Congress members staged a walkout in the Chhattisgarh Assembly.
In a bid to corner the ruling party over outsourcing of nurses in the Government hospitals and health centers, the Opposition members led by Bhupesh Baghel said that by overlooking the interest of qualified and unemployed youths of Chhattisgarh, the ruling Government in the State has recruited outsiders in the Health Department.
According to Baghel, around 750 posts of nurses were filled by outsourcing.
These vacant posts were to be filled with local candidates of Chhattisgarh.
Although, the Government had invited applications from local candidates but eventually dismissed forms of these applicants on the pretext that these candidates did not want to work in remote villages of Chhattisgarh, he said.
Baghel further added that over 50 nursing colleges, including Government and private, are operational in the State and around 1500 students are passing out from these colleges every year.
The Chhattisgarh Government has made no appointment through outsourcing in the Health Department, said Chandrakar in his reply.
He further added that services of doctors and nurses are being taken through selected service provider agencies for Surguja and Bastar divisions. The process is also a transparent one.
After the Government’s repeated attempt of recruiting staff nurses in Surguja and Bastar turned futile, outsourcing was opted to fill the vacant posts, said Chandrakar, adding that Chhattisgarh government is dedicated towards providing employment opportunities to locals.
Unhappy with the reply of Health Minister, Congress members staged a walkout.
