PL Punia, Congress general secretary and party incharge for Chhattisgarh, on Sunday held a meeting with 22 party candidates who lost assembly polls in November.

In the meeting held here at State Congress state headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, he asked defeated party candidates to focus on expanding party’s footprint in their respective areas for getting better poll performance in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The meeting also discussed the alleged anti-party activities of several Congressmen in assembly polls and it was decided to take stern actions against them.

Talking to media persons, Punia said he held a detailed discussion about the reasons why party lost polls in 22 seats. He claimed that Congress would perform exceptionally well in Chhattisgarh in Lok Sabha polls. Congress had won just one seat in last parliamentary polls held in 2014.
